Now, it’s time to head back to the kitchen and try making the “Blank Space” cake — yes, the one Taylor stabs with a knife and makes explode. Are you ready? We’ve got the recipe and some tips to help you recreate it. The key to this cake is all in the decoration, and we have a few tricks to get it just right. In the video, Taylor stabs the cake and… does blood shoot out? Of course, you’ll replace that with something delicious, like strawberry or raspberry jam, or strawberry syrup.

There are two ways to create this cake: the easy way, and a slightly more advanced version. We’ll walk you through both so you can decide which route to take.

Step 1: Build Your Cake and Apply the Buttercream

Start by decorating your cake with vanilla buttercream. We recommend making at least three layers to get a nice, tall cake. Use buttercream to secure each layer, then cover the entire cake in white buttercream. Here’s a video tutorial on how to do it. Once the cake is fully covered, refrigerate it for 3-4 hours to set, then apply one more layer of buttercream for a smooth finish.

Step 2: The “Explosion” – Easy Method

The easiest way to create the cake explosion is by making a ring of buttercream, filling it with strawberry or raspberry jam (or syrup), and then crafting a heart-shaped cover from white chocolate. Once done, cover it again with more buttercream to hide the surprise.
